  3. Who is the Student Regent • Representative of 230,000 students on the governing board of the UC • Primary advocate for access, affordability, and diversity • UC student with at least 2 yrs remaining at UC • Year 1: Student Regent-Designate • Year 2: Student Regent

  4. What does the Student Regent do • Advocacy • To the administration, to state government, to the voters, to the press • Fight for student interests and priorities • Fight for your agenda (& other people’s agendas) • Speaking engagements

  5. What does the Student Regent do • Building student power • Collaborating with statewide student leaders • Educating and empowering students across the system • Developing future student leaders • Using social media to keep constituents informed

  6. What does the Student Regent do • Holding administration accountable • Asking difficult questions on your campus, at OP, and Regents table • Requesting research & data • Developing alternatives to current policy and policy proposals
