  1. VEX Robotics Pre-Engineering Ms. Lindsay

  2. What is a Robot? A robot is a programmable mechanical device than can perform tasks and interact with its environment

  3. Basic Components of a Robot • Body • Can be any size or shape • Human shaped robots have been seen in movies • Majority of them look nothing like humans

  4. Control System • A program that tells the robot how to act • Electronics that process the information • Can be simple or extraordinarily complex • Designed to allow the machine to react to its environment through code or sensory input • (touch, temperature and light sensors)

  5. Central Processing Unit • Directs its behavior • Can be autonomous Behavior Behavior is a response to different inputs.

  6. Uses of Robots • Precision work • Repetitive/monotonous work • Dangerous work • Exploration • Competition • Education

  7. Robotics in Education Robotics enables students to use their hands and minds to create like an engineer, artist, and technician does, all at once.

  8. NO playing or running in classroom • NO throwing of objects of any kind • Clean up all work areas and dispose of materials property • Keep work areas neat and organized. Safety

  9. Stop talking at the sound of the bell • Make sure all parts are in the proper container • Make sure your container is labeled and neatly placed in the back of the room. Classroom Rules
