Harnessing Solar Energy: A Comprehensive Guide
Discover the fascinating world of solar energy, the renewable power source that comes from the sun. Every minute, the sun emits enough energy to power the Earth for an entire year. Solar energy has a rich history, with its first discovery dating back to 1838. Learn how modern solar technology works, including the function of solar panels, battery banks, and inverters. We explore the advantages, such as savings on electric bills and renewable energy potential, alongside challenges like installation costs and dependency on sunlight.

Introduction • Solar Energy comes from the sun. • Every minute the sun sends enough energy for an entire year! • This energy is renewable as long as the sun keeps shining
History • Solar power was first discovered in 1838 by Edmund Becquerel but he did not get the credit • From 1860-1881 AugusteMouchout was the first man to get a patent for a running motor that was powered by the sun
Found and Recovered • The energy source is found in the sun • This energy is recovered by solar panels • Electricity is generated when the sun hits the panel, the current go through and go from a change controller to a battery system, and finally to an inverter.
Stored & Released • Solar energy is stored by using Battery banks or Grid Inter-tie
Modern World • Solar energy is used to light and work our houses, by installing solar panels on rooftops you can save much money on electric bills
Advantages & Disadvantages Pros Cons • Less money on electric bills • Leftover power, will be bought by electric company • Renewable in sunny areas • A lot of money to install solar panels • Nonrenewable if in cloudy area
