College Bowls. Only DI schools go to one of the bowls we will discuss. There are approx 119 DI football schools 35 college football bowl games in 2010/11. How does a team make it to a bowl game?. They must have 6 wins versus DI schools They must be invited to a bowl game.

  2. Only DI schools go to one of the bowls we will discuss • There are approx 119 DI football schools • 35 college football bowl games in 2010/11

  3. How does a team make it to a bowl game? • They must have 6 wins versus DI schools • They must be invited to a bowl game.

  4. What is the difference between the bowls • $$$$$$$ • Payouts can range from 750,000 per school to 22 million per school

  5. Where does this money go? • Must be given to the conference for distribution to other schools in that conference. • Examples .. • 9 Big Ten schools are going to bowl games • 6 Big East schools are going to a bowl game • 10 SEC schools going to bowl games

  6. What does BCS stand for? • Bowl Championship Series • BCS bowl games have much larger payouts to participating schools
