  1. AIM: • to raise awareness on poverty in Hong Kong • to improve the lives of people through donations of items

  2. Hong Kong is Asia’s “World City”. All of us enjoy comfortable lives, getting whatever we need whenever we want. Yet, there are people within our very community who can barely afford 3 meals a day - most of us don’t even worry about whether we’re able to purchase food. Poverty exists here. The gap between the rich and poor is getting wider.

  3. PAINTING A PICTURE: POVERTY IN HONG KONG one in six children go hungry because their parents cannot afford to buy food. There is a “deterioration of family relationships” because children quarrel over the lack of food. 144 400 families in HK below the poverty line: that’s 534 100 people who find it difficult to afford the most basic foods. Many people even eat one less meal a day. What are YOU going to do about it?

  4. CHINESE NEW YEAR? ... is the most important festival of the yearto these families. But it these families can barely buy basic necessities, how are they going to afford these items? That’s were WE get to MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

  5. WHAT TO DONATE: • Shopping coupons e.g. Park ‘N Shop, Wellcome • Food items e.g. rice, noodles, biscuits. Traditional CNY foods e.g. 年糕(nian gao),蘿蔔糕(turnip cake),芋頭糕 (yam cake) • Toys, games • Books • Stationery • Electronics

  6. WHERE WILL THE ITEMS GO? Hung Hom Integrated Family Service Centre The agency will redistribute the items to the families as gifts.
