  1. Day 2: Solving Right Triangles with Trig and Pythagorean Theorem (1/9 and 1/10)

  2. EQ: How do we solve right triangles using trig and they Pythagorean Theorem? Agenda: • Warm Up/Check Homework • Review Worksheet on solving for angles and sides • Notes on Solving for all missing pieces • Real Life Trig Problem Worksheet • Making Clinometers Homework: • Finish Word Problem Worksheet

  3. Warm Up Travis is cleaning out the leaves from his parents gutters and leans a ladder against the house. He knows the ladder is 12 feet long and the base is sitting 6 feet away from the house. Just out of curiosity, Travis wonders if he can find the angle that the ladder makes with the ground. Can he? Show your work for discovering this measure.

  4. Review Solving for a missing side…

  5. Practice Worksheet

  6. Solving Right Triangles • Given the following triangle find all unknown pieces.

  7. Things to keep in mind… • Try to use numbers that you did not have to round. (Use what is already there rather than the numbers you found) • If you have to use a rounded number, only use them one at a time. • You can use the Pythagorean Theorem to solve for one of the sides • In right triangles the two acute angles add up to 90

  8. Solving Right Triangles • Given the following triangle find all unknown pieces.

  9. Rea-Life Trig Worksheet

  10. Real Life Trig Problems…

  11. T.O.D. • Finish # 1 and let me check it before you leave.

  12. Set Up for Tree Activity Decide which group member is going to be: • The Pacer • The Recorder • The Sighter • The Angle Reader Begin putting your clinometer together
