ComicBase: Background • Comic Books are a literary form consisting of sequential panels of art. • Precedents for the comic book range from the earliest cave paintings through Trajan’s Column in Rome
ComicBase: Collecting • People who collect comics range in backgrounds but share a devotion to their hobby. • As with other inherently collectable materials, comics often become extremely valuable with time.
ComicBase: The Project The goals of ComicBase: • Provide a place for collectors to record their collections • Provide a repository of details about comic books • Provide a resource through which collectors can find out about related and newly printed comics
ComicBase: The Prototype • For this prototype system the basic functionality for account creation and initial collection synthesis are complete. • Future work would involve refining the entry interface, adding automated information gathering of comics being published, and enhancing the recommendation system
