  1. Overview of Case Study YouTube was created in 2005 by three former PayPal employees. It has been owned by Google Inc. since 2006, but before that it was independent. ‘Broadcast Yourself’ From 2005 to 2011 the interface of the website has gone from just 1 when it was launched to 32 plus a USA version.

  2. Historical Developments It was launched in 2005 as www.youtube.com, and was developed over the following months. The first video was uploaded on 23rd April 2005 by co-founder Jawed Karim (Jawed) - ‘Me at the Zoo’ . July 2006 – the company said that 65,000 new videos were being uploaded everyday. In 2008 YouTube agreed with MGM, Lions Gate and CBS allowing the these companies to post full length shows on the site (only for US viewers). In 2009 YouTube developed a UK version of ‘Shows’ offering around 4000 full length shows for more than 60 partners. In 2010 YouTube introduced a online film rental service. Which offers viewers in the US, Canada and the UK only.
