Be Sure To Include: Image rich student work that is labeled and captioned Aprominent banner or sign with your school’s name and logo A stack of brochures Flyers advertising your Open House dates A pen and sign-in sheet with columns for parent’s name/child’s name/email address A digital picture frame or PowerPoint with school-related images and information running in a loop A candy dish Possible Personnel: student ambassadors in school uniforms or shirts, parent coordinator, principal, teachers, selected parents

  16. Goal: To Scream Magnet • To provoke thought and generate greater understanding of magnet theme • To create a welcoming and aesthetically pleasing environment • To encourage school spirit and pride • It’s not just fluff – it looks good and it’s rigorous

  17. Contest Principal sends out letter to faculty Teachers and students decorate their doors Doors must reflect theme and curriculum Doors are judged by an impartial team Winner gets $100 prize

  18. Standards: Name of school prominently displayed Class prominently displayed Clear theme and curricular connections Task description prominently displayed Student work includes images and text (older students) Door is visually striking

  20. School Tours Who will give tours? How will they go about it? What will they point out & highlight? What route will they take? What kids will they speak to? Is there a script? Who is writing the script?

Open Houses • What will happen? • What are you aiming to capture? • What do you wish to highlight? • Possible Activities/Events: • Short film/visual presentation • Q & A with principal, faculty and students • Short student performance/presentation • Gallery/exhibit of student work as parents enter • Short presentation by partners or partner tables as parents enter • Tour of building
