  2. Payment By Results…. So what is it? • “Payment-by-results is an approach we’ve brought to bear for the support for the long-term unemployed. It’s a principle we want to try and bring in to the criminal justice system, and it’s based around a very simple premise: you do what it takes to help stop somebody from reoffending; we’ll pay you when you’re successful.” • Chris Grayling, Justice Secretary Oct 2012

Overview • The PBR pilot runs over four year period from October 2011 and will cover four cohorts of offenders. • The pilot on began on 1st October 2011 and 30 June 2012, there were 1,178 eligible participants at HMP Doncaster. • The main development stimulated by the PBR pilot was the addition of community resettlement support for offenders post-release through the provision of community-based case managers. • The introduction of an end-to-end case management system, including delivery in the community, is intended to reduce inconsistency, improve engagement of offenders and support reductions in reoffending.

The Evolved Model – The Prison As Intervention Programmes Re-evaluation of current delivery based on offender need, scalable and flexible enough to meet changing profile Activities Ensure that all activities around the Prison are directed at qualification frameworks and are relevant FOR the future, not FROM the past Families First Transforming visits into a Families Intervention based on strengthening bonds between fathers and their wives and children

The Evolved Model – The Prison As Intervention Recovery Embedding the principles of recover at the centre of not only our Substance Misuse offering, but also throughout the resettlement process Reparation Our extensive use of Restorative Justice to underpin not only victim/offender mediation, but also internal conflict resolution Responsibility Encouraging and supporting prisoners in taking responsibility for not only their crimes, but their time in prison, as well as developing Social Capital for release.
