  2. The flow of the sentence • Read the Spanish sentence from right to left. • Gustar loosely translates as “to please.” • Translate the sentence as “something pleases someone.”

  3. Sample sentence “She likes pizza. In Spanish it would say, “Pizza pleases her.”

  4. Le gusta la pizza. • This is the Spanish sentence. • The word(s) that follow gustar determine itsform. • Because pizza is singular, use gusta. • The word used for her is le.

  5. She likes tacos. Think: “Tacos please her.”

  6. “Le gustan los tacos.” • The thing (tacos) that follows gustan is plural, therefore the plural form of gustar is used. • Gusta is singular and gustan is plural.
