Your Role… Knowing where to signpost students for help Represent your peers views and concerns about your course to the University Be the link between the Students’ Union and University so that a good working relationship forms Communicate information from meetings back to your students and be pro-active in helping to deal with issues
Your Responsibilities… Attend training and top-up training Attend the Student-Staff Committee Meetings (at least once a term) Get to know your peers on your course Attend ED Advisory Committee with the Students’ Union (one per semester) Attend a lunch with the Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Get involved in Education Campaigns Keep up to date with your department
Brainstorm Activity • In groups brainstorm ways to promote yourself as a Course Rep to your peers, using the flip chart paper provided • Try to be inventive i.e. not just Facebook and emails
Individual Activity • On the cards provided write the following: • 5 key tips for Course Reps • 1 achievement you have made during your time as a Course Rep • 1 thing you wish to achieve if re-elected • A brief description of your experience as a Course Rep • Anything you wish you knew before becoming a Course Rep Hopefully the information you give will included in a guide for future Reps We will ask a few of you to read your cards out today if you wish
