The East Midlands Declaration - Change4Life Launch of regional movement on 23rd September 2009 Declaration of “war” on the rising tide of obesity Aim was to galvanise support from everyone in the region – including grass roots organisations, employers and third sector for an East Midlands Platform Link made with the EU Platform – need for “exchanging policy ideas and best practice nationally, regionally and at local levels” Robert Madelin

EU Platform for Action on Diet, Physical Activity and Health • Set up in 2005 • Forum for “actors” at an EU level who can commit their membership to engage in concrete actions designed to contain or reverse rising trends in obesity • 33 member organisations that have made over 200 commitments to date in a variety of areas such as food reformulation, education, physical activity…

  6. East Midlands Platform for Food, Physical Activity and Health Modelled on the EU Platform Is the Platform transferable and sustainable at a regional level? Platform members make a commitment to action that is over and above current activity that will make a contribution towards halting or reversing the rising trend in obesity Aim is to have members from public, private and third sector so that there is a partnership approach to tackling obesity
