Through knowledge networks and partnerships, it facilitates the exchange of information and best practices on trade and sustainable development globally.

  2. The Goal of the Trade Knowledge Network • To foster long-term capacity to address the complex issues of trade and sustainable development in partner-country research institutions, governments and the wider policy community, including business, academia and environment and development NGOs.

  3. Knowledge Networks • Consist of groups of expert institutions working together on a common concern, strengthening each others’ research and communications capacity, sharing knowledge bases and developing solutions that are made available for use by others outside the network.

TKN Partner Institutions • Argentina: Centro de Investigationes para la Transformación (CENIT) • Bangladesh: North-South University (NSU), The World Conservation Union (IUCN) • Chile: Recursos e Investigacisn para el Desarrollo Sustentable(RIDES) • China: Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation (CAITEC) • Costa Rica: International Centre of Economic Policy for Sustainable Development (CINPE) • Pakistan: Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) • South Africa: Trade and Industrial Policy Strategies (TIPS) • Vietnam: Ministry of Fisheries (MOFI)/ Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (MOSTE)/ The World Conservation Union (IUCN)

Trade Knowledge Network utilizes three inter-related objectives to achieve its goal • High quality objective, in-country and thematic research to increase awareness, knowledge and understanding of the sustainable development dimensions of trade; • policy workshops, and other fora, to inform and promote dialogue among policy-makers and stakeholders in TKN countries as a means incorporate sustainable development into trade policy • To facilitate through the Trade Knowledge Network, its partners, and among broader audiences globally, exchange of information, best policy and practice on trade and sustainable development.
