  2. Adam’s main complaint about his father is that he never praises Adam.

  3. Moses Cooper tolerates no one’s opinion except his own.

  4. Moses talks down to Adam for being superstitious at the well.

  5. Joseph Simmons stops to see Moses Cooper to get his advice on a statement that he’s writing for the meeting.

  6. When his father and Cousin Simmons go to the Committee meeting, Adam goes over to see Ruth.

  7. Levi cleans Adam’s gun to make up for tattling on Adam.

  8. Moses Cooper says that the English army is made up of educated officers and ignorant Englishmen

  9. The rider tells the villages that the British are after supplies in Concord.

  10. As Adam signs the muster book, his father has a sad expression on his face.

  11. The muster book is a record of men who are willing to fight.

  12. Moses believes that when the British soldiers see the militia, the soldiers will respect the colonists.

  13. When Adam goes out to shoulder arms in the common, he is afraid.

  14. When the Reverend speaks to the British officers, the British major drives his horse toward the Reverend and forces him to leap aside.

  15. Moses Cooper is the first militiaman to die

  17. Major Pitcairn is the leader of the redcoats.

  18. Solomon Chandler offers Adam comfort shortly after the first battle.

  21. Solomon Chandler learned about the British army and soldiers during the French and Indian War.

  22. The Committeemen drive the redcoats back to Boston.

  23. When Adam wakes up in the midst of the battle he hears Cousin Simmons and the Reverend discussing Adam’s own death

  24. Levi says the redcoats stole Sarah Cooper’s silver teapot when they came back into Lexington.

  25. Cousin Simmons is unsure about signing the muster book because he is Lexington’s only blacksmith.

  26. Adam takes candles to the meeting house for his mother.
