  3. Objective: • - The student will understand that our location on the globe and the globe’s relation to the sun are the biggest determiners of climate.

  4. Review: What is climate? • The average weather conditions of a place over a long period of time

  5. Review: • What is weather? • Refers to the condition if the atmosphere closest to the earth.

  6. Create a Venn Diagram KEY POINTS • Daily measurements • Precipitation • Temperature • Wind speed • Cloud conditions • Related to location • Affect people lives • Annual average measurements • Trends over time • Data for predictions

  9. Key points • When the flashlight is on a region what season is that region experiencing? • When the flashlight is not on a region what season is that region experiencing?

Other than the Earth’s rotation what affects climate/weather? • Location is a major factor in what climate conditions you should expect to see in a region • How close/far somewhere is in relation to the equator • If you were standing on the equator do you think you would be hot or cold? • If you move away how would you feel? (classroom tile activity)
