  2. RISC Update • Risk Integrated System of Closure (RISC) • Effective February 2001 • Staff has completed 143 closure reviews • 25 sites have completed closure • Several sites closed w/o need for further remediation

  3. RISC • Some aspect of non-default used in every proposal • Most common error - proper site sampling to characterize contamination • Recommend pre-meeting with staff

  4. RISC • Current work concentrating on: • Symposium Proceedings • Vapor Intrusion • Monitored Natural Attenuation for Petroleum • MTBE Concentrations for Pre-RISC Sites • Developing e-mail list for sending notices on new developments - 1 contact per company

  5. Rules • Landfill Stormwater • Asbestos Certification • Special Waste • UST Changes • CFO - NPDES

  6. Brownfields • Federal Grants - $200 million/year - 5 yrs available to local & state government and associated agencies or authorities • Assessment Grants • Revolving Loan Funds • Cleanup grants - must own site (non-profits also eligible) • Deadline end of year

  7. Tier II Reporting • Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA) • Electronic Reporting • Indiana Emergency Response Commission will pay the electronic filing fee charged by Access Indiana.

  8. Office of Water Quality • 303(d) listing • consolidated listing methodology • 428 Waterbodies • December WPCB meeting • TMDL program • 14 TMDLs underway • watershed TMDL • process improvement • Pending EPA regulation on methodology and TMDL procedures
