WSCC the Tasks…. • We recognise People with Learning Disabilities and Autism face barriers to work • We commission WorkAid and Workability to help these customers find work • We want to be an ‘exemplar’ employer and lead the way in offering work opportunities • Chief Exec’s programme – from the top! • Employment = less dependence so reduces our spend

  5. Our Progress • WorkAid helped us develop a supportive recruitment process • We are identifying suitable job opportunities • We use WorkAid to support our employees • We produced helpful guidance for our managers (Intranet) • ‘Easy Read’ staff handbook • We aim to be ‘Inclusive’

Identifying Suitable Roles • Any Contract Type inc. casual or temporary • Any hours can be just a few, usually part time • Typically Grade 1, 2 or 3 • Job Match – the role profile needs little change, it is the candidate who needs a little more training (reasonable adjustment) • Identify roles, speak to manager and refer to EF • Refer to Intranet for Toolkit • Direct Recruitment from there

  8. Employment Options • Job Match: Catering roles in schools, Admin roles, Data Analyst • Job Create: Admin roles in Office Services, Event Assistants (new innovation),Grounds Assistant • Job Carve: Water Testing Assistant roles • Suppliers are a key audience • Roles only need be a few hours

  9. Water Testing Assistants • New Statutory duty for Facilities Officers • Rather than add new task, carved • Trained Employment Advisors • Pilot in Chichester Area successful • Tasks Completed quicker than calculated: sharing roles in Bognor = cheaper • Further roles to follow
