Bike Maintenance Cleaning Your Bike:The bike should only be cleaned with a moist rag and non- corrosive cleaners. If pressure washers are used to clean the bike, then the warranty is voided!! Annual Maintenance: Your bike should be given a full tune- up by a bicycle mechanic on a yearly basis. Brake pad Maintenance: Electric bikes run at higher speeds, for this reason the brake pads normally wear down faster than a traditional non-powered bike. It is suggested that users must check brake pads regularly and replace whenever worn. Drive Train Maintenance: A drive-train consists of the bikes pedals, cranks, chain-wheel, chain, cogs or cassettes, and the derailleur. Your electric bike must be maintained. The drive-train needs to be kept lubed and clean in order to prevent rust and wear. Cleaning the Chain on Your Bike: Use an old toothbrush with warm water to clean out all the links of the bike chain. After they are clean and dry (suggested using a cloth), use bicycle lubricant to lube up the clean links. Make sure to only use lube specific for bikes. Wipe off any excess lube with a towel or rag. If there is too much lube, the lube will attract dirt and clog up the chain.
Adjusting the Brake Disc The first couple of rides on your beautiful new GOPOWERBIKE, you may hear noise from the brakes pads. This is normal. If the wheel by your brake pads spins too freely, then we advise that you ride your bike for 30-50 miles. This allows time for the brake pads and rotors in your new bike to literally break in. If you feel that your breaks need adjusting, follow these steps: The brake pads can be too tight; this can be fixed by turning the knob on the brake lever by the handlebars. The brake on your left is your front brakes, and the brake on your right handlebar is your rear brake.
Do your breaks feel too tight? If they do, turn the silver knob clockwise (clockwise is to the right) and now try to see how the braking of the bike wheel feels. Turning the silver knob clockwise will loosen the brakes, as where turning the silver knob counter-clockwise will tighten the brakes. If the knob is as tight as you can make it and the brakes are still rubbing and making squeaky noises, then try to adjust the pad inside the brakes. You can find the inside pad of the brakes by looking inside of the brake caliper (the disc looks that is about the size of a quarter). Use an Allen/hex key (5mm size) to adjust the disc.
