DESCRIPTION

TAKE ONE! is an entry-level experience for teachers pursuing National Board Certification. Participants create a video portfolio showcasing their teaching practice with PreK-12 students and submit it to NBPTS for scoring by April 15, 2013. Engaging in the TAKE ONE! process not only supports professional development but also helps educators reflect on their instructional practices and focus on student learning. By completing this process, teachers can apply their scores toward the full National Board Certification process within two years.

Participants • Complete a specified video portfolio entry using a classroom of PreK-12 students. • Submit the entry to NBPTS to be scored by April 15, 2013. • Can apply their scores within two years when they begin the whole process of National Board Certification. www.coe.ilstu.edu/ilnpbts

Could Be 5-Year NBPTS Process 1 Complete TAKE ONE. • August 2012-April 15, 2013 2 and 3 Complete Whole NBPTS Process. • May 2013-June 2014 or • May 2014-June 2015 • May 2015-June 2016 4 and 5 Achieve or Bank Scores and Retake. • Fall 2014 – Spring 2015 • Fall 2015-Spring 2016 • Fall 2016-Spring 2017 • Fall 2017-Spring 2018 www.coe.ilstu.edu/ilnpbts

NBPTS Deadlines • Ordering deadline: December 31, 2012 • Entry submission deadline: April 15, 2013 • Withdrawal deadline: April 15, 2013 • Deferral deadline: April 15, 2013 • Withdrawal deadline with partial refund: 45 days from date on packing list • Scores available online: on or before December 31, 2013 www.coe.ilstu.edu/ilnpbts
