FINAL PRESENTATION PRESENTED BY SADIE J. KIMBREW JUNE 25, 2001
WHO AM I? SUMMARY OF PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
MY NAME IS SADIE KIMBREW…….. • I am in group 8, under the mentorship of Michiko Sakimoto for the CTAP 295 - Online Teaching with Technology. • The created lesson was very challenging for me because I learned how to integrate technology into my curriculum using the internet and other technology tools/resources to enhance my teaching skills.
MY NAME IS SADIE KIMBREW……..CONT. • The lesson designed provided me with experience and skills in learning how to do the following: • Design web page • Access favorite sites to visit • Utilize new ways to send e-mail • Discover the advantages and disadvantages of taking a class online
MY NAME IS SADIE KIMBREW……..CONT. • Download programs and other goodies • Create images and sounds for documents • Navigate around a web site • Being part of this class increased my skills as well as the students’ skills in technology. I was able to align my lesson with the standards required by the state of California and Los Angeles Unified School District.
LESSON CREATION • Creating personalized stationery and writing full block letters with open punctuation. • The purpose: • Format and arrange full block letters • Create personalized stationery using graphics • Compose and write business letters using personalized stationery • Communicate with colleges, universities, and elected local, state, and federal representatives using the internet and letter writing techniques
ANALYSIS OF DATA COLLECTED • There were 27 active students in my Word Processing class. The results for the pre-test indicated that students did not have the knowledge that I expected them to have for formatting business and personal letters. When I administered the post-test, students who took the test showed improvement. On the other hand, I was very happy and pleased with the number of students who submitted portfolios. There were 24 students who submitted portfolios out of 27 students. When I graded the portfolios, there was an indication that learning had taken place , and they were motivated and showed an appreciation for this project.
CONCLUSION • As a participant of this program, the experience and skills that I acquired increased my knowledge in how to integrate computers at another level in my subject area. I will use computers more as a tool to access information and to communicate with other educators around the world. I am very convinced that computer-related technologies will have a great impact on the way teachers teach and how students learn in our educational system. • Computers will continue to dominate the lives of most individuals. This program also enhanced my skills in access to the internet and the worldwide web. I also learned new ways to gather, organize, and analyze information to make proper technical decisions in creating quality presentations. I really learned a lot from this program. • SPECIAL THANKS TO MICHIKO. YOU ARE THE GREATEST. I COMPLETED THIS PROGRAM BECAUSE YOU ENCOURAGED ME TO MOVE FORWARD WHEN I WANTED TO GIVE UP. THANKS !!!!!!!!!!
