  4. Step 3. Watch your weight Damage to blood vessels in the eye caused by excess body weight has been linked to the onset of glaucoma

  5. Step 4. Cover up Cumulative exposure to the sun’s UV light increases your risk of developing cataracts and macular degeneration

  6. Step 5. Be screen smart Avoid eye strain by using the 20-20-20 rule, especially if you’re using a computer for long periods of time. Look 20 feet in front of you every 20 minutes for 20 seconds

  7. Step 6. Get tested Get your eyes checked every two years even if you think your vision is perfect Early detection is vital to prevent avoidable sight loss
