  1. Steps to clean a dirty Viking Oven and Cooktop

  2. Step 1 - Clean the Cooktop First If your oven has a cooktop, start with it first. Remove the cast-iron grates and burner covers. Use strong alkaline to remove stains as it acts as a grease making any stain soft and removeable. Wipe the top of your burner with hot, soapy water along with a scrub pad. Use plastic scrub as the steel one can leave marks on your cooktop.

  3. Step 2 - Clean the Burner ports According to a Range Repair specialist, Appliance Medic, a major reason why your burner is not lighting can also be clogging in the ignition port. You can clean it with a sharp needle or safety pin. Stay away from using wooden toothpicks and other such materials as it can break inside the port. You can also clean around the slots with the help of a toothbrush.

  4. Step 3 - Remove grease from Controls The range control panel can be easily washed with hot, soapy water. You can even wash it in the dishwasher. Clean the control panel near the knob with a damp sponge. Make sure no liquid gets in side the electronic.

  5. Step 4 - Wipe the oven interiors New oven models have self cleaning feature. But remember that during the several hours of self cleaning, you might not be able to use the oven and also your home might smell like a burning grime. So you can clean the oven yourself with hot, soapy water and a plastic scrub pad. Cover the tight stains with water and remove them again with the scrub. Clean the oven door with a sponge or damp cloth.

  6. Step 5 - Polish oven exteriors If your range has a white or black finish, use soapy water and a sponge for exteriors. If the material is stainless steel, you can use a cleaning liquid that is specially made for it. A normal glass cleaner can also remove any grease build up. Make sure to apply it with a soft cloth in the direction of the metal’s grain
