Association Nationale des Infirmiers et des Sages femmes de Madagascar AN I SM • The idea of creating an association of nurses and midwives was born around year 2006 when CNO meeting was held in Kampala Uganda by ECSACON • The malagasy association was called ANISM and was officialy created on 12 th june 2009 • The association is governed by act N° 60-133 • The association will be given a civil personality and the text about it will be written soon.

  4. Association Nationale des Infirmiers et des Sages femmes de Madagascar AN I SM ANISM was composed by nurses and midwives without distinction of race nor religion. At the moment there are 120 members from around Madagacar ANISM is created for everlasting duration The status of ANISM was adopted on 12 th june 2009 It is located at Befelatanana Antananarivo inside the national Institute of public health and community

  7. Association Nationale des Infirmiers et des Sages femmes de Madagascar AN I SM Mission of ANISM is : • to bring solutions face to many health problems • to improve nurse and midwives status • to respect morality principles, probity and devotion.

Association Nationale des Infirmiers et des Sages femmes de Madagascar AN I SM ANISM plays the role of spokesperson of nurses and midwives in different levels: national, regional and international. ANISM must encourage and promote an open and positive debate; it will participate for the discussion about health policy.

Association Nationale des Infirmiers et des Sages femmes de Madagascar AN I SM Professionalism : everybody has to try reaching best professional norms Capacity strenghening : nurses and midwives have to work constantly to reinforce their skills and their teknical skills in order to satisfy population needs on health and give care of quality.

Participation et coopération : promotion of participation and cooperation with all ( all regions, all the communes, with civil society and sleeping partners)Competitivity manner : if we want to succeed on global market and in the national and international environment, we must be competitive on healthworker training system , as well as public and private care system.   13. Association Nationale des Infirmiers et des Sages femmes de Madagascar AN I SM 1. To promote solidarity, collaboration and being relations between nurse care and obstetrical healthworkers 2. To help nurses and midwives to improving obstetrical and nurse care quality 3. To have an influence on obstetrical and nurse care health policy, professional norms, conditions of employment and job in Madagascar.

To promote development of ANISM ; 6. To represent nurses and midwives all around National, Régional et International.

  15. Association Nationale des Infirmiers et des Sages femmes de Madagascar AN I SM 7. To receive and manage funds and deposites which will let improving quality of obstetrical and nurse care. 8. To assure quality of training which will give in the establishments of initial training and favourise continual and complementary training.

Association Nationale des Infirmiers et des Sages femmes de Madagascar AN I SM Entering inside ANISM is indeed free. • If a member would be an active member or passive or junior of the association, the candidate must : • send a written letter to the administration council, • engage himself to comply to the status • engage himself to pay contribution as it is written on article 12 of the status

Final admission of new members will be pronounced when general assembly is held . • The passive member who decided to run again for professional activity does not need applying for a new request as the same for junior member who has finished his professional studies.He or she has to inform management council about his new professional activity.

Association Nationale des Infirmiers et des Sages femmes de Madagascar AN I SM • To be a member of ANISM these following conditions would be required: • every nurse (male or female) would obtain official nurse degree or another one recognised by government • every midwife having obtained official degree or another one recognised by government. • At the present time number of members are one hundred (100) composed by • nurses • midwives

  25. Association Nationale des Infirmiers et des Sages femmes de Madagascar AN I SM weaknesses • Sensibilization of members in remote regions (22 regions ) are not completely realized; • non yet budget allowed; • Association needs for more lobbying.

Association Nationale des Infirmiers et des Sages femmes de Madagascar AN I SM Opportunities • Policy system is not a bit stable • Madagascar is very wide, so remote regions occured some problems to visiting them • Insecurity of social situation of every member is a matter • Communication ways are very difficult

  28. Association Nationale des Infirmiers et des Sages femmes de Madagascar AN I SM Needs • ANISM would be a dynamic, strong and real partner to apply national health policy, particularly for reducing infant and mother mortality but also fight against AIDS.

Association Nationale des Infirmiers et des Sages femmes de Madagascar AN I SM Challenges • Participation ofANISM when great decisions would be taken about health acts and rules for Madagascar ; • Decentralisation of viewing nurse and midwife profession by creating specialized structures with specific vocation under the control of ANISM  (Syndicat …) • Existence of regional commitees of ANISM ;

Association Nationale des Infirmiers et des Sages femmes de Madagascar AN I SM • Contact and change with regional presidents ; • ateliers and seminar organised for the benefit of members (Surveillants of hospital care, caregivers, teachers…). • Organization of conference, debate, seminars and training in order to contribute nurses and midwives prevention against AIDS;

Association Nationale des Infirmiers et des Sages femmes de Madagascar AN I SM About teknical level: - there would be a experience change between member countries in obstetrical and nurse care by different atelier organised by SANNAM; - thinkings about a determined theme in the frame of improving care quality, nurse and midwives training quality.

Association Nationale des Infirmiers et des Sages femmes de Madagascar AN I SM - adoption of new strategies in resolving of different problems about nurse and obstetrical care, nurse and midwife profession; - harmonisation of view points concerning the evolution of nurse and midwives profession inside the members countries of SANNAM

  34. Association Nationale des Infirmiers et des Sages femmes de Madagascar AN I SM About social level : - establishment of confraternity trend between the member countries of SANNAM; - assistance towards members countries which have accute problems particularly nurse and midwive problems;
