From a report published in February 2013: • 91% of employers had screened job applicants via social media. • 61% of employers rejected applicants based on something in a social media profile. • 13% rejected candidates because their profile showed that they’d lied about their qualifications. • 11% showed poor communication on their profile. • 11% had inappropriate photos and comments. • 10% showed drug references. • 68% of employers hired candidates after screening via social media. • 39% hired because the candidate showed a positive personality. • 36% hired because the profile supported the promised qualifications. • 33% showed good communication skills and a well-rounded personality through social media.   4. How to assess your reputation and clean your slate. • Know how to accurately Google yourself. • Ready to be on a Times Square marquee? • It doesn’t have to be bad to be improvable. • Navigate smart damage control. • Thankfully, do’s are just as important as don’ts.
