SEA Unitary Plan provisions No consent required for minor or appropriate works: • Minor vegetation pruning and trimming • Emergency works necessary to avoid any actual and imminent threat to the safety of persons etc • Ecological restoration • Maintenance around existing buildings, cleared areas and tracks • e.g., pruning, alteration or removal of vegetation within 3m from edge of a dwelling

Trees in roads and reserves Historic Heritage Places identified in the Manukau City District Plan have been carried through into the draft Unitary Plan. Unitary Plan identifies the extent of the site affected. Historic Character No historic character areas identified, but a design and development overlay applies to the Hill Road area – this controls subdivision size with a min 750 sqm required. Pre-1944 Demolition Control Overlay Applies to the Jellico Road area. Being ground truthed by the heritage team.

Pre-1944 Demolition Control Overlay Applies to the Jellico Road area. Being ground truthed by the heritage team. • A list of significant trees or groups of trees in the Auckland region • Inclusion of a tree or group of trees in the schedule means that: • - it has been officially recognised by the Council as being a notable tree • - is protected by provisions in the Unitary Plan to ensure it is not damaged or destroyed • Notable tree criteria have been developed for assessing new trees • Tree specific factors (cumulative) • Special factors (stand alone) • Negative effects • About 5,500 notable trees in the UP • 2,862 sites (many sites have more than one tree) • Trimming is permitted provided it meets criteria

Coastal water quality • stormwater and wastewater discharges – best practicable option approach • avoid significant effects on sensitive areas • have regard to sediment quality effects • avoid sewage discharges and reduce litter • provide for unavoidable intermittent discharges • enable public network infrastructure • Controls on discharge of harmful aquatic organisms from biofouling of vessels • Controls on vessel maintenance near conservation islands in the Hauraki Gulf

  11. Sewage discharge from vessels • distance offshore that discharge of untreated sewage from vessels is permitted increased from 500m to 2km • fills gaps/anomaly areas better than Marine Pollution Regulations • shows that discharge of sewage in nearshore areas is not acceptable or appropriate
