  4. STRATEGY:Analyze Story Structure • Story structure is the way a writer shows the characters, setting, and plot (events) in a story. • Identifying the elements (parts) in a story and how they fit together helps you understand what is happening.

  5. SKILL: Problem and Solution • The problem in a story is what the main character wants to do, find out, or change • The story ends when the character finds a solution, or a way to solve the problem.

  6. PREVIEW & PREDICT When I say “Go”, take 1 minute to preview the illustrations. Ask yourself: • Will this story be funny? • Why or why not? On your index card, write your predictions. After we listen to the selection, we will see if your questions were answered.
