  8. Diagnostic • You will need three pieces of information for this: • Your TTU email address • Your instructor’s last name: Vaughan • Your section number: • 023

  9. BA1 • You will need to take the pre-semester diagnostic and read the provided Writing Reviews. Then, answer the following questions: • What was your score on the diagnostic? Was it higher or lower than you expected? • Considering your results and past writing experiences, what particular grammar elements would you like to focus on? Looking at the Top 20 Errors in your e-handbook, what do you most frequently see in your own writing? • What is your experience with academic writing? You may discuss high school, college, or work place writing.

  10. BA1 • What do you think your strengths and weaknesses are as a writer? • After reading the Writing Reviews, identify some challenges. How might you handle these? According to them, what are some of the benefits of the class? • In light of all of these, what are some of your goals for this class, and how do you plan to achieve these goals? • 400-600 words

  11. BA1 Success • Read through and answer questions thoroughly. • Put effort into the assignment. Write complete sentences and check the document for errors. Proofread! • Create two to three paragraphs and keep them thoughtfully organized. (You should never turn anything in that isn’t in paragraph format)

  12. What We’ll Be Looking For • Focus on the diagnostic as well as previous writing experiences. • Refer to specific questions on the diagnostic. • Clearly state your assessment of your own skill. • Discuss items to work on this upcoming semester. • Discuss the writing reviews: how you would handle issues that they brought up and what benefits they discussed. • Professional tone, grammar, style, etc.
