Creating the iDent for Lucy Proctor Productions: A Short Film Journey

In this project, I designed a ten-second identification (iDent) for my short film, showcasing my production company, Lucy Proctor Productions. Inspired by iconic identifiers like Pixar and Universal, I transitioned from After Effects to Maya for more ease of use. I crafted a dynamic rollercoaster track in Maya, which animated the text "Lucy Proctor Productions" to follow the course, mimicking real rollercoaster motions with loops and twists. With vibrant colors and an engaging illusion, this ten-second piece perfectly sets the stage for my short film.

  2. What Did I Have To Do? For this project, I had to design a ten second iDent to go at the start of my short film. This had to advertise the production company like “Pixar” or “Universal” for example. I could use any programme I wanted to.

  3. What Programme Did I Use? I could use any programme I wanted for this iDent. I was going to use After Effects but soon decided to have a go at using Maya again. I found that this was much easier.

  4. What Did I Do? I made a rollarcoaster track on Maya. I then created the words “Lucy Proctor Productions” and got it to follow the track, doing loops and stuff like a real rollarcoaster does. This had to be ten seconds so it went quite fast. I then changed the colours and added an illusion.
