  3. Learning Goal: LAFS.7.L.4 – Determine or clarify the meaning of unknown and multiple-meaning words and phrases based on context clues

  4. Context Clue Notes • Context clues are hints the author gives to help define a word you don’t know. The clue may appear in the same sentence as the word you don’t know or in a nearby sentence. This is a useful and important strategy because it helps you understand what you are reading, and it allows you to easily learn new vocabulary.

  5. Gaunt My little brother is gaunt—just so thin and bony!
