Solids and Views. A solid is in 3D. But we can only draw in 2D.... So how can we draw a solid?. Understanding Views. What does this cube look like when you look directly down onto it? Draw what you'd see in your book. What about it you looked from the front? ... or the side?

  1. Solids and Views A solid is in 3D. But we can only draw in 2D.... So how can we draw a solid?

  2. Understanding Views What does this cube look like when you look directly down onto it? Draw what you'd see in your book. What about it you looked from the front? ... or the side? Draw these in your book as well. Now go to the next page

  3. If you look at a cube from the top, it looks like a square as the face is a square. The same is true of the other views. Looking at something from the top is called a plan. Looking from the front and side are called the elevations. So for the cube we have the views as PlanFront ElevationSide Elevation Notice that the squares are all equal in size as its a cube!! Now go the the next page

  4. Views For each of these solids... 1) Draw it's plan, front and side elevation 2) Draw the solid using isometric paper

  5. What shapes are these? You have 10 cubes and the plan view for 6 different solids. Your task is to work out what these solids look like and present your answers to the class. You will not have time to complete all 6. You have 30 mins to complete the task. Group Roles: Today, you may select who should take each role. Put the label for your role on your table so everyone knows which role you have.
