  2. Salmon reproduce in fresh water, but spend mose of their adult life at sea They can travel up to 1,000 miles to fresh water

  3. Young salmon migrate through streams in which they were born to the ocean There they grow, eat and reach sexual maturity

  4. Once old enough, they return to the rivers in which they hatched They know that those rivers have enough oxygen dissolved in the water, so can sustain life
