Misconception -2 It’s not suitable for building small websites! Many people believe that .NET application development is all about creating a huge website only, but that is not the reality. If you’re unaware about the simplicity of the .NET platform for creating small websites, then just have a look at its class library. Moreover, Microsoft has also released WebMatrix to help developers to create any kind of website in a easier and user-friendly way. You don’t have to go for a highly structured approach in order to create a website. You can use multiple approaches provided by the framework. So, it is not at all true that it is not possible to create small websites with the help of Microsoft ASP.NET platform.

Well, Microsoft is a software application development company, and being the manufacturer, it is very obvious that they will be more concern about to protect the source code of their product. However, Microsoft makes the source code for the .NET framework available for free, and you can get into the code while debugging your own applications. The more interesting thing is that you can even create your own version of .NET framework. Microsoft also gives you ample access to the source code of the ASP.NET releases, such as WebForms, MVC and more, through CodePlex. So, you can’t say it closed!
