Imaginative • Can take many different forms. Amongst others, could include: • Letter from a character in Jasper Jones to another character • Eg – Charlie writing to Jasper while he waits for him to come back again after they drowned Laura’s body • An epilogue to Jasper Jones • Eg – What happens in the town after the story ends • A diary entry in the voice of one of the characters • Eg – Jeffrey Lu’s diary entry after he won in the cricket then his dad was attacked • A memoir by one of the characters • Eg – 20 years later, Charlie is publishing the account of his life in the small town of Corrigan and how it shaped him • Requires a title
Don’t make these errors! • Common pitfalls in imaginative style writing • Don’t retell the story of Jasper Jones • Yes you’re telling a story, but don’t forget that the main thing you’re doing through telling the story is exploring the context prompt • Links to Jasper Jones should be made very clear
