Enhancing Ambient Air Monitoring through Technology Integration

This project focuses on integrating advanced measurement technologies for ambient air monitoring, driven by limited funds and manpower. An internal team was formed to explore options, leading to partnerships with experts in X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) and Beta Attenuation Monitors (BAM). The collaboration aims to develop innovative solutions, such as a semi-continuous multi-metals system for fence-line applications, utilizing cutting-edge techniques for lower detection levels of pollutants. This initiative represents a strategic approach to improve air quality monitoring and ensure effective environmental compliance.

Multi-metals Fence-line – Ambient Applications • The Xact Ambient Air Toxics Monitor (Xact AATM) measures the ambient concentration of metals • Based on uses X-ray fluorescence • Sampling times for this instrument range from one to four hours. • The Xact AATM measures metals in the pg/m³ concentration range.
