  2. Recognize the Need for a Fresh approach • Our numbers of active church members are shrinking. • The remaining members are aging but continue to be loyal and sincere followers of Christ. • We do not want to see our church continue to decline. • So….Senior Connection was born.

  3. “Decatur is becoming a mecca for Retirees” • Low cost of living • Entertainment • Water features • Nice seasons • Good health care • Access to air travel • Proximity to metropolitan offerings • Activities for visiting grandchildren

  4. Recognize who we are and build on our strengths • Mature congregation • Prefer traditional worship • Foster supporting relationships • Strive to live Christ centered lives

What is Senior connection at Oak and vine? • We are a Christ centered community of faith enjoying fellowship with like minded people. • We would like to share our personal interest with you and learn about yours. • We may travel to some places nearby, attend a concert, or a rodeo. • We may learn how to download the latest apps or plant a container garden. • We may have a brunch bible study and then walk away the calories. • We are sure to have some activity that you can and will like to do regardless of the number of candles on our birthday cake .

September Luncheons Sunday, Sept 8, 2013 “Angel Flight” with Dr. Bob Sparks “Angel Flight” is a non-profit organization of pilots and other volunteers arranging free private air transportation for medical patients who cannot afford other transportation. Sunday, Sept 22, 2013 “Are you Smarter than a Smart Phone?” Bring your cell phone and your questions for a panel of experts that can speak our language.

  7. October Luncheons Sunday, Oct 13, 2013 “Medicare and You” with Cissy Pearson, NARCOG Ms. Pearson will give the latest information about Medicare changes and supplemental plans being offered. The deadline for your supplement decision is December 7. Sunday, Oct 27, 2013 “Kairos Prison Ministry”with Dr. Malcolm Prewitt What is Kairos?  How does it work?  Is there a place for you in this ministry?

  8. Future Plans • Continue the Sunday luncheons in January and February of 2014. • Include St. Andrew and Westminster in the planning • Other programs in the meantime?
