Community College How to Enroll: • Visit my.maricopa.edu to create an account • Accuplacer exams required unless other criteria are met (ACTscores, GPA, etc.) Why Community College? • Open admission policy • Can take core classes and transfer to universities. Check with www.aztransfer.com to see what transfers. • Attain an Associate’s Degree (Examples: RN, Radiology Tech, Dental Hygienist) • Attain a Vocational Certificate (Example: Automotive, Electric Utility, MassageTherapy) • Lower cost than universities: $2500+/year compared to $9000+/year

Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) • The Western Undergraduate Exchange is a program of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). • Students in western states may enroll in more than 140 two-year and four-year college in WUE schools/programs at a reduced tuition level • Several School in the following states participate: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. Letters of recommendation Plan ahead! • Make an in-person request of your teachers, counselors, coaches at least 3 weeks before you need a letter of recommendation. • Complete the Senior Brag Sheet available on the College and Career Center webpage. • Provide an electronic and paper copy to the person who will be writing for you. • Provide additional information that will help the recommender write more clearly about what that school or scholarship is looking for

  30. Healthy Coping SkillsWhether you are overwhelmed with homework or the stress of life, there are healthy ways to cope. Exercise, listen to upbeat music, draw, write in journal, talk to a friend, find a study group, don’t procrastinate, ask for help, talk to your teacher(s)/friend, make a plan, see your school counselor, etc.
