National Geospatial Advisory Committee

This report provides updates on the activities of the National Geospatial Advisory Committee Partnerships Subcommittee, including a summary of the Call for References, planned activities, and a discussion on procurement issues. Partnerships Subcommittee • Subcommittee Members: • Eugene Schiller (Co-Chair), Jerry Johnston (Co-Chair), Bull Bennett, Dick Clark, Donald Dittmar, Randy Johnson, Barney Krucoff, Tim Loewenstein, Charles Mondello, John Palatiello. • Purpose: • Develop recommendations to facilitate productive Federal / State / Local / Tribal / Academic / Private partnerships to facilitate the efficient and effective advancement of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI).

Partnerships Subcommittee • Activities to date: • NGAC agreed on following actions at February meeting: • ACTION: NGAC members provide feedback to Partnership Subcommittee’s Call for References by February 27. • ACTION: Partnerships Subcommittee will summarize results of Call for References, prepare draft project plan, and report back to NGAC. • Subcommittee has created table of all submittals in myUSGS wiki • https://my.usgs.gov/NGACWiki/wiki/NGAC%20Partnerships%20Subcommittee%20Call%20for%20References • Drafted ArcNews article for inclusion in next issue (thanks Jack & Pat!) • Updates on Subcommittee activities and the Call for References • Requests additional submittals

  4. Partnerships Subcommittee Planned Activities/Next Steps – Extracting key information from submittals What Works? Can we replicate it? How do we go about replicating it? Can we prototype (opportunities for pilot funding)? Measurement of Success and revisions Subcommittee members will meet in early July to review findings Co-chairs will assist in Chasing down information from submitters Also discuss options for permanent hosting of the resource Discuss any additional materials coming through from ArcNews article Prepare final document for December Includes discussion on procurement issues / best practices (need expertise) Issues for Discussion How do new GSA procurement requirements play into this potentially? Do we need additional rules / enablement in Federal procurement to make this successful? What would the most useful format of the Call for References materials be (how could current wiki meet these requirements or serve as a starting point?)
