Our Rationale Reaching out. • Staff from Planet CrUsh pointed out that the organization can only reach out to people who sign-up for their courses. • However, We will bring the course to the people. • And with our help, the message of Cyber Wellness will be able to reach those of Singapore and Australia.

  4. Our Rationale Evidence of internet related problems. • Labor’s Plan for Cyber-safety: “While we recognise that the computer and the internet are a powerful source of information and entertainment, we must also recognise that there is POTENTIAL for MALICIOUS behaviour and harmful effects.” http://www.alp.org.au/download/now/labors_plan_for_cyber_safety.pdf

Our Rationale Evidence of internet related problems. • Cyber-safety for kids: Advisory Council on the Impact of New Media on Society (Aims) chairman Cheong Yip Seng told a news conference yesterday that the Government should pour more resources into cyber-safety as Singapore grows ever more digital. http://www.straitstimes.com/Breaking%2BNews/Singapore/Story/STIStory_309801.html

  6. Why are we doing this? Analyse results of surveys. • From this we can conclude that: Cyber safety is an important issue that needs to be addressed as quickly and as effectively as possible. • Therefore, there is indeed a need to educate more youths and guide them towards the path of Cyber Wellness.

  7. What have we done? From 2008 til now. • Project was continued from last year. • Courses conducted in classes - Primary Schools. • Exposed HCI students to alternative and healthier gaming lifestyle. (Planet Crush Course)

  8. What's New? Continued from 2008 • Cooperating with us this year are the students from Christian Outreach College Brisbane. • To reach out to an international audience both in Singapore and Australia.

  9. What's New? Continued from 2008 • “CyberWellness” Day • Awareness Campaign (Public & School) • Assembly Talks • Focus Groups - Australia & Singapore • Online Portal (Website) {Mainly for Focus Groups}

  10. “CyberWellness” Day New Initiatives. • Gather a group of students (Esp. Students in our Focus Groups) • Invite the school population to visit our booths and other activities we have set up. • Main aim for that afternoon is to give the students an alternative to using their computers when they get home.

  11. Awareness Campaign New Initiatives. • Set-Up Awareness Booths around the school. • (HCI)Propose to the Council to allow us to make use of the notice board in the canteen. • Put up posters around the school • General aim is to raise awareness of the dangers online and tips to stay safe.

  12. Assembly Talks New Initiatives. • We will be conducting presentations during assemblies for HCI, Primary Schools and COCB • Serves to educate the students about CyberWellness and tell them more of our new initiatives for them (CyberWellness Day, Awareness Booths)

  13. Focus Groups New Initiatives. • Gather students who show signs of internet addiction. • Weekly interaction with these students in our schools and online. • Invite these students to the “CyberWellness” Day. • Organise field trips and monthly sport games.

  14. Interactive Online Portal New Initiatives. • Allows visitors to sign up as members. • Members will be able to share their experiences online and receive monthly newsletters on updates and new tips for Cyber Safety. • Features an archive of our current journey and interesting/educational videos.
