  2. The Bible says… • Gen 2:15 The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it. • Man’s 1stministry was earth stewardship • Was the garden the priority? • Are the Amish right? • Was the Earth made for man or Man for Earth? • Jn.3:16 “For God so loved the World”

  3. The Bible says… • God commanded Noah to preserve all species on the ark. Gen.7-8 • Help a troubled animal. Ex.23:4-5 • Give the land a rest! Ex.23:10-11 • Sabbath rest for animals too. Ex.23:12 • “Whoever is righteous has regard for the life of his beast, but the mercy of the wicked is cruel.” Pro 12:10

  4. The Bible says… • Animals are aware of hope in God. Job 12:7-10, Rom.8:18-22 • Don’t muzzle the ox. Dt.25:4 • Fruit trees planted are untouchable until 4th yr. Lev.19:23-25 • Take care of the trees in battle. Dt.20:19-20 • God assigned to mankind the responsibility for ruling over this world (Gen. 1:26-28; Ps. 8:6-8). Gen.1 also tells us to fill the earth! Ps.8:4-9

The Bible says… • Gen 8:22 Gen 8:22 While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease." • Psa104:9 You set a boundary that they (waters) may not pass, so that they might not again cover the earth. • Jer 5:22 “Do you not fear me? declares the Lord; Do you not tremble before me? I placed the sand as the boundary for the sea, a perpetual barrier that it cannot pass; though the waves toss, they cannot prevail; though they roar, they cannot pass over it.

  7. False science…human tradition • 1 Tim.6:20 “O Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you. Avoid the irreverent babble and contradictions of what is falsely called "knowledge" (Science) • Col 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ…Col 2:21 "Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch" • 1Ti 4:3 who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

  8. Scientists aren’t always right! • Charles Darwin – Evolution • 1920’s and again in 1970’s -Global Ice age! • 1960’s DDT banned, Millions died from Malaria, now being used again • Psychiatry and “Science” claim Homosexuality is genetic • Global warming? Who’s to blame?

Science over Religion? • For the most part the same crowd that Preaches Global warming Climate change also murders unborn children but saves the whales and baby seals, promotes “Mother Earth” and evolution in place of Father Creator, Homosexuality is genetic (born this way), and believe that Mankind is the problem and depopulation is the answer. • Sit not in the counsel of the ungodly! Ps.1 • Science is supposedly provable, Christianity is by necessity birthed in Faith! Heb.11:1-6

Cause and Effect? • Why are we so willing to believe that these issues are a result of our “consumer sins” and NOT the punishment of God for far greater crimes and immorality like Abortion, Sodomy, Promiscuity, rejection of God…? • 2 Chron. 7:14 He will Heal our land (which was apparently cursed due to our sins) if God’s people pray, repent, and turn to God! • Lev.26, Dt.28 Curses for godlessness!

  12. Hypocrisy • I will respect someone who’s consistent even IF they are wrong • Al Gore believes the Oceans are rising and buys a mansion on the beach • Plastic or Paper? Even they don’t know! • New Light Bulbs are more harmful to the Earth – lead! • Tree, “marsh” and brush protection lead to larger wildfires

  13. Green Movement • Population control, reduction • Veganism – no dairy or meat • Imposed Double digit energy increases, taxes and industry requirements • New sin tax - Purchase of carbon credits • Pets “rights”, Peta activists, SF • Terrorists – burning and destroying

  15. Should Christians be Green? • Psa 1:3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. • Jer 17:8 He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit." • Psa 92:14 They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green • Hsa 14:8 It is I who answer and look after you. I am like an evergreen cypress; from me comes your fruit.

Distraction – Satan’s weapon • Christians SHOULD exercise good stewardship of the Earth! • Mankind is more important than the planet, • Man was made in His image • Earth made for man, so will new earth • Jesus came to die/save man, not the earth • On average day we have been effectively influenced to “think” and act to be “green” but most don’t think of eternity/evangelism or dsicipleship daily

  17. stored up for fire • 2Pe 3:7 But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. • 2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.

  18. the heavens will be set on fire • 2Pe 3:11 Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, • 2Pe 3:12 waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn!

Sanctity of human life Mankind 1st • Mother Earth, pagan • Evolution/Darwin • Save the seals, Earth… • Sacrifices are demanded! Eat bugs and 1 tpsquare • The End is coming – be green • Science and Liberal politicians will save us • Abortion and Homosexuality are OK • Earth 1st
