Was it right ? 2 Q2 SOME FAMOUS PYRAMIDS Photographs of two famous square based pyramids are shown. Work through the tasks below to create ORTHOGRAPHIC DRAWINGS and a TRUE SHAPE of one side of the pyramid shown. TASK 2A - orthographics Complete the ORTHOGRAPHIC DRAWING of the pyramid by drawing the END ELEVATION and then the PLAN. The Louvre, PARIS The GIZA plateau, EGYPT TASK 2B – true shape Follow the steps below to complete the true shape drawing of the sloping face of the pyramid. Steps 1 and 3 have been completed. • choose a view which shows the sloping surface as a single line. • project lines at 90O to this surface. • draw the datum line at 90O to the projection lines. • draw the datum line on the plan. • take sizes from the datum line on the plan. • darken lines to show the true shape of the surface. Was it right ? 3 Q2 SOME FAMOUS PYRAMIDS TASK 2C - sketch Sketch below what you think the DEVELOPMENT drawing of the square based pyramid would look like. The Louvre, PARIS The GIZA plateau, EGYPT TASK 2D – development Follow the steps below to complete the DEVELOPMENT of the square based pyramid. Do not show the base in your drawing. Steps 1 to 3 have been completed for you. • begin with the given vertical line. • set your compass to the length of the outside edge of your true shape, this is the true length of the shape. • mark this length on your vertical line. • using the top of the line as your centre point, draw a circle with radius set to the length of this line. • set your compass to the length of the base of your true shape. • mark this size 4 times on the circumference of your circle. • Complete the development by drawing faint lines from these marks to the centre of your circle and joining them up round the circumference. + DEVELOPMENT

The company producing the clock would like a display box to hold the clock whilst leaving a part open at the top to view the clock face. Complete the ORTHOGRAPHIC DRAWING, TRUE SHAPE and DEVELOPMENT of the box. Glass mantle clock TASK 6C – development Complete the DEVELOPMENT of the box. If you have time, design graphics for the box and render in suitable colours. ISOMETRIC TASK 6A - orthographic Complete the ORTHOGRAPHIC DRAWINGS below. + DEVELOPMENT PLAN TASK 6B – true shape Complete the TRUE SHAPE drawing of the part side of the box. Was it right ? 8 Q7 PYRAMIDAL CANDLE A pictorial view and photograph of a pyramidal candle are shown. The company producing the candle would like a label to surround the candle whilst leaving a gap at the top to leave the wick exposed. Complete the ORTHOGRAPHIC DRAWING, TRUE SHAPE of the hole which will be cut from the pyramid to create the label and DEVELOPMENT of the label. Pyramidal candle ISOMETRIC TASK 7C – development Complete the DEVELOPMENT of the label. If you have time, design graphics for the label and render it in suitable colours. TASK 7A - orthographic Complete the ORTHOGRAPHIC DRAWINGS below. + TRUE SHAPE DEVELOPMENT PLAN TASK 7B – true shape Complete the TRUE SHAPE drawing of the hole in the top of the label. The company producing the light shade need accurate drawings to send to the suppliers of their materials. Complete the ORTHOGRAPHIC DRAWINGS and the DEVELOPMENT of the shade. TASK 8B – development Complete the DEVELOPMENT of the shade. If you have time, design graphics for the shade and render it in suitable colours.
