Purpose of the RLC • Facilitate the work of governments in the region in the process of assembling, in the framework of domestic legislation, relevant information on the regulation and facilitation of international humanitarian aid in cases of disasters, as outlined in the IDRL Guidelines • Allow governments of the region to identify the strengths of their national legislation regarding disaster prevention and relief, as well as those areas where regulatory frameworks could be strengthened in anticipation of future disasters; • Allow a rapid exchange of information about existing legal procedures in different countries of the region during an emergency or disaster; and, • Constitute a tool to enhance mutual cooperation between countries and other international actors providing assistance emergencies or disasters.
