  1. Chapter 9: Revolution Begins! Your chance to make your own set of notes, but with my instructions!

  2. Each of you will create your own set of notes! • Instead of taking notes from my power point, you will take notes that summarize the chapter. • The chapter is divided into 3 sections. Each section is divided into subsections with subheadings written in RED. • Each subheading will be a separate section of your notes. There are 15 subheadings.

  3. Each subheading describes a different event during the beginning of the Texas Revolution. • To learn these events, you will describe each event using the 5 W’s: When, Where, Who, What, Why.

  4. How to set up each section:Use the subheading title as your section title • When ---------------- • What ---------------- • Who ----------------- • Why ----------------- • Where ----------------- • Dates: Be Specific • Specific Places • Names, numbers of men • List what happened in order • List reasons given in book

  5. Label Each Section of Chapter • Section 1: Revolution Begins • 5 subheadings • 5 W’s on each one. • Section 2: Capture of San Antonio • 4 subheadings • 5 W’s on each one. • Section 2: Convention of 1836 • 6 subheadings • 5 W’s on each one.

  6. Vocabulary • Define the blue words in each chapter. • Write a sentence using each word. • In your composition book, unless you are out of room. Then you may also do this on notebook paper in your binder.

  7. “Notes to Self” • Make a list of questions you have as you read and summarize. • Do this on a separate sheet of notebook paper. • Have this paper with you as you create your outline. • You should have questions. • You will turn these in.

  8. How this is graded • This is worth 2 test grades! • Each subheading is worth about 13 points for a total of 200 points. • That makes each W worth about 2.6 points. • I will ask you to show me your work as you complete each of the 3 sections of the chapter. • Your vocabulary will be a daily grade. • Notes to Self is a daily grade.

  9. Due Date! • This is due Tuesday January 25th, one week from today. • We will work on this daily in class. • If you do not keep up in class you will have to finish this at home. • You have several worksheets to complete during this time as well. You will have homework! • Balance your time and work hard in class!
