  2. Braille system 1827 • In 1827 the first book of Braille was publishes • Blind people learned to read and write which lead many to independence • Thanks to Braille blind people can read many books that are published in Braille.

  3. First Computer Used for Instruction May 26,1950 The computer program was developed to provide a computing resource within the university, to allow researchers to gain experience in the practical use of computers.

  4. First Computer Used with School Children Aug 26,1959 • Computers are introduced but the little technology is used at school.

  5. Overhead projector October 1, 1960 • The overhead projector allows the audience and the presenter to see the work at the same time. • You can adjust the size to make the presenter feel more confident with the material.

  6. Information - Processing Theory Jan 27, 1968 • According to Atkinson & Shiffrin learning is encoding information into human memory, similar to the way a computer stores information.

  11. Interactive Whiteboard 1991 • The interactive whiteboard is a smart board that uses touch detection. You use you finger to do interact with the board when giving a presentation or lesson.

  12. World Wide Web (WWW) 1994 • Netscape Navigator accounted for almost 90% of all web use. • The first International Conference on the World Wide Web was held in 1994 at CERN • The best overall site for 1994 was NCSA’s web site

  13. International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Creates Standards Jan 26, 1998 • STE sponsors creation of National Educational Technology Standards to guide technology, skills, first for students, then for teachers and administrators.

Weblogs (Blogs) 1999 • A blog allows a person to share their thoughts or anything that they think can interest other people that like to share ideas among a lot of users. • good quality blogs are interactive, allowing visitors to leave comments and even message each other • Ex. wordpress allows you to share information and completed projects for others to see

How has the educational technology has help many of us!!! • Students with disabilities have special equipment • Students have different ways of learning • Adults have more opportunities of going to school • Students have easy access to computers because they are affordable • Different ways of communicating • Anyone can make a web site to educate others
