Standard & Consistency • Put buttons in consistent place • Gray things out, do not remove them • Use the same wording in labels and messages • Use consistent color scheme, fonts. • Put message boxes in the center of the action. • Set standard to ensure all these
Easy Navigation • Do not lose users • Appropriate Message / Input boxes • Able to come back to the main page from any sub site.
Informative • Poor text -> poorly perceived UI by users • Tool tips • Message boxes • eg.) Password should consist of at least one number and be at least 6 alphanumeric characters
Readability • Color – Contrast Rule (Dark text on light background or vice versa) • Alignment and justify • Fonts and its size • eg.) Old English or Script: hard to read Used Times New Roman, Arial
Loading Speed • Avg. 6 Sec. With 28.8 Kbps modem • GIF : Animation / less than 16 x 16 • JPEG • No Flash media, shockwave – 99% brought negative reaction from user • In 2003, expect to rebuild our web with more multimedia for faster connection
Common Sense • Tab Order • Default button – No Save or Delete buttons • Future Addition : Internationalization / Localization • eg.) Death: Black(USA), White(China)
