  3. Workshop Logistics • Sessions all day in the Paris Ballroom, with a few breaks. • Lunch and refreshments are next door in the Tokyo/Zurich room. • Breakfast is also served there from 7:30-8:30am each day. • Dinner together tonight

  4. Workshop Agenda - Day 1 • Presentations by Ken Klingenstein and David Clark followed by group discussion • Terry Gray on what’s broken. Panels on drivers and opportunities • Review of themes from the day

  5. Workshop Agenda - Day 2 • Group discussion on first generation principles • Points from Tuesday’s discussion • Architectures • Plans going forward

  7. What does Workshop Success Look Like? • Not about solving today’s problems with today’s tools. • Step back and ask whether original design principles of the Internet can sustain us, or whether we instead need new or modified principles.

  8. Real notes from a real meeting at UPenn, earlier this month. • First the group shared thoughts on the underlying problems causing security problems at Penn. Each NPTF member voted to indicate the relative importance of the problems:

  9. What does Workshop Success Look Like? • Common understanding and language among (at least) researchers, practitioners, funding agencies and vendors • What’s broken right now • Agreed architectural principles for R&E network designs • Manageability goals/requirements for R&E networks.
