  5. Quality Care Community • Established in 2002 CBA – Union and Management (CCLC) agree to address industry challenges (staffing; quality of care) • 40 NYC area nursing homes committed to working toward person-centered care

  6. Quality Care Committee MISSION To bring together leaders of labor and management to work collaboratively to improve care and work life in nursing facilities and serve as a model to others interested in replicating similar labor-management partnerships.

Demonstrating Impact - Clinical Additionally, since QCC’s inception, participating nursing homes have consistently produced lower state and national averages in 6 key quality measures: • % of residents: • Who spend most of their time in bed • Who have a catheter inserted and left in • With a urinary track infection • Who are Physically restrained • Who are short stay with delirium • Who are short-stay with moderate to severe pain

  15. Demonstrating Impact - Residents & Families Through the QCC’s training effort, several training projects have been initiated in efforts to increase focus on resident and family satisfaction. Initial work has found: Residents Families • Increased satisfaction with changes in dining, bathing, and activities • Improved care due to staff changes in communication and attitude • Improved sense of “individualized” care & ability to make more choices in their daily lives • Appreciated new orientation guides • Felt more welcome and included in facilities’ activities • Experienced an improved sense of personalized care, especially in “end of life” care
