  2. BPCC’s Open-Source Initiative:“Open-Campus” Open-Campusprovides free, online, non-credit, developmental-level English, math, and reading courses through BPCC’s Blackboard portal. Course content and progression mimic credit-bearing offerings with these exceptions: • no textbooks are used • courses are self-contained with no direct interaction between instructors/students.

  3. Instructor/DesignerTimeframe and Compensation Time-frame: Instructors contracted to complete the project following designated benchmarks within a window of 16 weeks from contract date. Compensation:Instructors were compensated for two sections: one (1) section ($1950) for content design and one (1) section ($1950) for video-recording lectures. Designated benchmarks/time-lines were suggested. Funding: The project was funded “In-House,” with the support of Administration.

  4. Instructor Responsibilities An instructor’s primary responsibility is to design content and record video lectures for one designated developmental course. *Instructors were provided the specific “BPCC Open-Campus” template in Blackboard and were responsible for creating a minimum of eight (8) and maximum of sixteen (16) learning modules which track according to their traditional, for-credit BPCC courses

Within the Open-Campus Blackboard template, the instructor agrees to provide in each module: • Learning Outcomes for each module • At least one video lecture where instructor introduces/teaches concepts (up to 20 minutes for each) *Instructors may include as many videos per module as they deem necessary to cover module material. • Written items/images (PowerPoint and/or pdf documents) to be produced/ designed by instructor and which reflect lecture topic. • Quiz(objective, auto-graded, with responses) sufficient in length to reflect material covered in module.

  6. Additional Instructor Responsibilities Complete the “Meet Your Instructor” bio/video and “Course Information” Participate in the review process with the program coordinator, Agree to complete the project within a window of sixteen (16) weeks from contract date.
