  4. THERMOSCAN A Device for detection of Inflammatory Pain, Vascular Disorders and Breast Cancer.

  5. THERMOSCAN Introduction • Thermoscan is a noninvasive, painless and no harmful imaging technology that allows the physician to visualize the physiological dynamics at an early stage. • Thermoscan converts infrared radiation emitted from the skin surface into electrical impulses that are visualized in colour on a monitor. This visual image graphically maps the body temperature and is referred to as a thermogram. The spectrum of colours indicate an increase or decrease in the amount of infrared radiation being emitted from the body surface • Thermoscan clinical value is in its high sensitivity to pick up pathological changes due to diseases of muscular, skeletal, vascular systems at just aberrant physiological level itself.

  6. Potential Application areas • Rheumatology • Neurology • Oncology • Diabetes ( Endocrinology) • Radiology • Orthopedics • Sports medicine • Physiotherapy • Pain Management • Wound Healing

  7. Clinical Implications • Diabetic foot care • Assessing stage of wound healing • Diagnosing and Imaging pain ( Distinguishing Inflammatory and Neuropathic pain) • Screening of the Breast Cancer • Assessing the response of disease to treatments

  8. Diabetic foot care • Diabetic foot problem is the most common reason for patient admissions to hospital worldwide. • Diabetic foot care is the most vital factor for control of blood glucose.

  9. Possible patterns of Planter and Calcaneal Vascular anatomy: A concept of “Angiosome”

  10. **MPA: Medial Plantar ArteryLPA: Lateral Plantar ArteryMCA: Medial Calcaneal ArteryLCA: Lateral Calcaneal Artery Conceptual classification of the thermographic Patterns with 20 different categories

  11. DIABETIC MELLITUS GROUP Diabetic Foot

  12. An example of latent inflammation identified by Thermography *(A) Photograph - An arrow indicates the callus. *(B) Thermography - An arrow indicates elevated temperature.

  13. Diabetic foot Assessing stage of wound healing Stage 1: Inflammatory Phase Stage 2: Proliferative Phase Stage 3: Epithelisation Phase Stage 4: Remodeling

  14. Inflammatory Spondylitis Asymmetrical Axial involvement, Larger > Small joints Rheumatoid Arthritis (Symmetrical, Small & Large Joints Upper and lower limbs) Psoriatic Arthritis (Asymmetrical, Large >Small joints, Dactyl ties)

  15. Rheumatoid Arthritis Osteoarthritis Inflammatory pain thermal images Abdomen Knee Complex Regional Pain Syndrome(CRPS)

  16. THERMOGRAM Screening for Breast Cancer. 21

  17. PATIENT REPORT – HIGH RISK THERMOGRAM breast cancer was diagnosed after further evaluation

  18. Assessing the response of disease to treatment like LLLT treatment. • Thermal image of Back after LLLT • Thermal image of Back before LLLT

  19. Thermal image of Neck before LLLT • Thermal image of Neck after LLLT
