  3. Work with Spooled Files This screen displays the information you need to manipulate your reports. The options you’ll use the most are 1=Send, 5=Display, and 22=Local print. A useful function key is F11 which gives you a different view of your reports.

  4. Work with Spooled Files – View 2 Pressing F11 gives you a screen like the one on the left. The job name is the same as the report name. The Crt date and Crt time columns show you when the report was run. This enables you to choose the correct report.

  5. Work with Spooled Files - Display Option 5 will display the spool file. Page up and Page down scrolls the listing. A t or b in the control field goes to the top or bottom. Entering a string in the find field and pressing F16 will find that string. The string must be in upper case. The More… in the bottom right of the screen indicates that there is more of the listing and scrolling is possible.

  6. Work with Spooled Files - Send Option 1 (Send) allows you email the file as an attachment to yourself or someone else. There are several different formats for the attachment.

  7. Work with Spooled Files - Send It is necessary to enter the recipient’s email address. You must include the @smsu.edu. The sender should be your email address including the @smsu.edu. The subject field can be filled in at your discretion. The file type has several options available. Position the cursor on the file type field and press F4. A list of the options will display.

  8. Work with Spooled Files - Send Several useful formats are provided. Using *PDF provides an easily printed format. Using *XLS converts the report to an EXCEL spreadsheet.

  9. Work with Spooled Files – Local Print Option 22 lets you print on your local printer using RPM, just as you did on the mainframe. RPM must be set up and open to use this option. To learn more about RPM, contact your Distributed User Support Specialist or the Computer Services Help Desk.

  10. Work with Spooled Files – Local Print Enter the RPM print query name, typically PORT for portrait or LAND for landscape and press enter. The report should begin printing. To learn more about RPM, contact your Distributed User Support Specialist or the Computer Services Help Desk.

  11. Work with Spooled Files – Miscellaneous The file name for a report will be QPQXPRTF. If the file name is QPJOBLOG and the user data column starts with QPADEV, then the listing is from a session time out and may be deleted using option 4.
